Food Waste Friday | Slacker

Well, I didn’t exactly get around to cleaning out the fridge this week.  And I’m sure there is some waste lurking in there somewhere.

I’ve just been a little off my game and not particularly motivated to do much in the kitchen lately.  So that applesauce and granola are still waiting to be made.  And that celery is still sitting in the back of the fridge.

There was an exception on Tuesday.  Both Matt and I took the day off and the only thing we did was play with the munchkin and scratch cook.  Blueberry scones for breakfast, grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup for lunch, and ribs (with homemade BBQ sauce!) for dinner.

That’s how I discovered a couple rotten onions.  Which I didn’t take any pictures of because Matt was with me and he always looks at me really weird when I take pictures of good food, let alone moldy food.  Not that he doesn’t read the blog and see the evidence after the fact.  But still.  It’s kinda like him watching me put on control top pantyhose.  Just ruins the illusion.

But I plan to get back into the kitchen this weekend and I want to start with a clean fridge.  So that’s on my to do list tomorrow.  Or Sunday.  Along with 50 other things I’ve been putting off this week.  Sigh.

How’d you do on your food waste?

I love the comparison of control top pantyhose to wasted food, hilarious!
And I have weeks like that too- cooking or cleaning or anything just doesn’t sound important.
Last week was one of those weeks, in fact.
Good luck on cleaning your fridge, maybe it’s not as bad as you think! :)

I hope so, but there are a lot of plastic containers in there…

I tend to go in cycles. I’ll have a really good few weeks of being productive and then SPLAT, I can’t get off the couch for a week. I guess as long as it doesn’t hang around much longer than that, we’ll survive.

  2. I wouldn’t worry about the waiting applesauce and granola. I think you should be proud of everything you cooked on Tuesday. I know I would be.

  3. […] (Sorry about the awful camera pic, guys.  But Matt was with me and you know how I hate for him to see me taking photos of moldy food.) […]
