Meal Plan Monday {And Grocery Voyeur} ~ 2.13.12

Grocery voyeur is back, guys!  The stars aligned and the thought of unloading all the groceries then taking photos of them then putting them away didn’t give me hives, so here is a super artistic and moving photo of my Aldi shopping trip.

Or not.

I go to Aldi every other Friday night, so when I get home it’s dark and the only light is from my garish ceiling fan.  I usually try to display the items on top of the table so there at least isn’t the shadow from the table, but this just seemed easier.

Then Allison got all excited that I had the camera out and started yelling, “Take my picture!” except whenever she asks me to take her picture, they always end up like this.

Or this.

But after several more attempts we finally got this.  Which is still not great but at least not as blurry.

Maybe someday we can improve the lighting situation in this house.  Or maybe we just need to repaint the kitchen something other than center-of-the-sun-yellow?  Sigh.

But I spent $47.77 at Aldi and sent Matt to Schnucks yesterday to pick up some vinegar, pineapple, and cornstarch.  And then there was the trip to the farmer’s market last Thursday for eggs, honey, and tomatoes.  I’d say both of those trips were around $10 each.  We will have to make a Trader Joe’s trip sometime soon, but nothing’s urgent.

But that definitely puts us way under our $120 bi-weekly budget.

Breakfasts will be the usual cereal, yogurt (need to make granola), oatmeal, eggs, and pancakes from the freezer.

Lunches will probably be leftovers from the freezer and some salads if I can get around to making salad dressing.  If not, it’ll be fast food.  *gasp*

We only have a couple of dinners to plan since Matt will be gone two nights this week and we are eating at a friend’s home Thursday and going out for date night on Friday.

So last night we had homemade pizza (one deep dish and one thin crust on my new pizza stone) and our Valentine’s Day dinner will be ribs, baked beans, and peas.  Romantic, I know.

What are you planning for Valentine’s Day?

I’m heading to Trader Joe’s today for a few things, so hopefully it will stay that way. But TJs is just so tempting!
